Aston Martin has released the performance figures for their new ultimate hypercar, the Valkyrie. It will be powered by hybrid powertrain that includes a Cosworth-built 65° naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 engine that will deliver 1,000 bhp at 10,500 rpm and 545 lb-ft of torque at 7,000 rpm. This is a world first for a naturally-aspirated, emissions-compliant road car. Maximum rpm for the V12 is 11,100. Included in that hybrid powertrain is a battery-electric system that delivers an additional 160 bhp and 206 lb-ft of torque. The combined power output is 1,160 bhp at 10,500 rpm and peak combined torque of 664 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm.
The Valkyrie’s hybrid system, a KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) style boost system similar to those found in Formula One cars, has been developed by two main technical partners; Integral Powertrain, who supplied the electric motor, and Rimac who supplied the lightweight hybrid battery system.
