For Collectors and Visionary Enthusiasts Only…

Italdesign Giugiaro’s first production supercar, the Zerouno, is sold out. Only five cars will be built in the first production run. The company has stated that a convertible version is ‘under evaluation’. Italdesign Giugiaro is part of the Volkswagen Group of companies and is based in Moncalieri, Turin, Italy. Pricing for the car has not been released but it is expected to cost significantly more than any of the current Lamborghini models. Lamborghini is also part of the Volkswagen Group of companies.

The Zerouno will deliver supercar performance. Nestled within the modular carbon fibre and aluminum chassis is a naturally aspirated 5.2 litre V10 engine generating 610 hp. The Zerouno can reach speeds of up to 330 km/h (205 mph) and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62.5 mph) in just 3.2 seconds thanks to its ultralight full carbon fiber body.

“The Ultra-Limited Series Production is an important service we integrated in our service portfolio,” said CEO Jörg Astalosch. “Its composed by a fully integrated approach from Design, Engineering and Production for small volume series vehicles, in a turnkey competence. We wanted to demonstrate with the Zerouno project that we are listening to our customers and what Italdesign is capable to do. Of course we’re open to provide this very same service all car manufacturers worldwide.”

Car number 002 will be on display at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California on August 20. The car had its world-premiere at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show in March 2017. As the company states, the car is intended for “collectors and visionary enthusiasts”.

The five lucky owners of Zerouno will be able to maximise the customisation of their cars so that each one will be truly unique. Over and above finishing the bodywork with a colour specifically developed for the client, including full carbon look, Italdesign has also developed several optional packages involving the exterior and inside the cockpit.

Not only was the Zerouno‘s front design inspired by the single-seater racing cars, the tires have a direct motorsport link. Italdesign chose Formula 1’s exclusive tire supplier, Pirelli, to equip its first Automobili Speciali model. The engineers developed a dedicated version of the high-performing Pirelli P Zero in 245/30 R20 for the front and 305/30 R20 in the rear. Featuring High Working Range tread compounds, able to guarantee maximum grip in all conditions, Zerouno’s dedicated tires belong to the new line of coloured tires which premiered in Geneva. The new Pirelli tires will be available in four different colors: white, red, yellow and metallic grey.

With its almost fifty-years of experience, Italdesign, founded in 1968 by Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aldo Mantovani, works with car manufacturers from the first product design to the start of production. The company, with more than 1,000 employees, was acquired by Lamborghini in 2010.
